Spiritual Preparation for Worship Leaders

What builds up the body of Christ and what tears it down? What is really important to insist upon as crucial to the health of the body, and what is a matter of personal taste or cultural habit? These are hard questions. The good answers will seldom be the easy ones. So says Cornelius Plantinga Jr., president of Calvin Theological Seminary, in this address from a 2002 Changing Culture Conference. In his address, published by the Calvin Institute of Chrisian Worship, Plantinga points to the need for the spiritual discernment, patience, kindness, self-control, and hospitality that comes with being born again in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
