ARDA's Dictionary of Religious Terms

The Association of Religion Data Archives offers an online dictionary of religious terms. ARDA stores nearly 500 data sets from national and international surveys of people and their religious practices and convictions. Definitions in ARDA's dictionary include embedded links to archived studies and other resources housed on the ARDA website, when additional information is available. The definition for "religious order," for instance, is: An official society within a church whose members, such as nuns or monks, live under the same rule (Reid et al. 1990: 997).
