American Buddhism on the Rise

Americans interviewed at the third annual BuddhaFest discuss what they find attractive in Buddhism and what they perceive to be the links between Buddhism and Christianity in a 4½-minute slide show with audio track hosted on the website of Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, a cutting-edge religion news reporting and analysis program. In a related 8½-minute news story, correspondent Kim Lawton interviewed the Venerable Nicholas Vreeland, the first Westerner appointed abbot of a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. The Dalai Lama gave Vreeland the historic task of creating a bridge between East and West, including bringing Western ideas into the Tibetan Buddhist monastic system.
