Patterns in Declining Churches

Consider the factors that contribute to low congregational vitality. Analysis of worshipper demographics, size and growth of worship attendance, presence of conflict, and the congregation’s financial situation were not predictive of low vitality in Catholic and conservative Protestant congregations, but they were quite predictive of low vitality in mainline Protestant congregations. The findings were reported in the U.S. Congregational Life Survey.
