God’s Place in the Pursuit of Excellence

While any of us might tolerate mediocrity in our own behaviors and work, when we are the intended beneficiaries, we want to experience excellence. But defining excellence – especially pastoral excellence – can be problematic. This essay examines excellence as approaching God and the fullness of God’s reign over all creation. It is “being a sign and instrument by which creation is healed, reconciliation is experienced, and justice is practiced.” Read the article and discover the meaning of excellence on the website of Faith & Leadership, an offering of Leadership Education at Duke Divinity.
